It’s always good to laugh… so, let us start this season with good humour and in a good mood: Makarova and (her personal) disasters on Stage!
Why am I posting this? It’s very easy to explain:
1 - “a t t i t u d e”, after the not very inspiring last ballet seasons’ (I mean it really in the plural form), is returning to its usual committed ways (attitude in its purest sense) - so, it is, spoken, a kind of celebration.
And what could be better to welcome “new times” than a good, relaxed laugh?
2 - Everybody is just getting back to work after a summer intermission, many good people joined the Vienna State Ballet company and it takes time to get acquainted, to know and get warm with each other (when I write this, I am just meaning the way of adaptation of learning how to dance with each other), there’s much to be done, and (how wonderful) there’s lots ahead. A new (more “fruitful”) era has begun.
This is the reason why there is no “high profile” article this week, just a “warm-up” to what is to come.
3 - And there’s this honest WELCOME: To the talented members of the company who, deservingly, stayed in the company, to its many new members, to its (old and new) guest teachers and coaches and Miss Alessandra Ferri, the Company's new artistic director.
I, in the name of all ballet critics, my readers, and all "Balletomanes", wish you a lovely start in this new season, in this new period of your life! We are looking forward… yes, we are looking forward to the future!
