A première that never was… Yes, the joy over Piaf Chansons, “a Mélange” of French composers (Gabriel Fauré, Jules Massenet, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Maurice Ravel & Erik Satie) and a wonderful cast, did not happen on March 28th, 2020, nearly two years ago, as intended to. This, still under Manuel Legris’ direction period in Vienna.

Such a shame but because of the pandemic this long-awaited première could not take place - if we ever are going to be able to see this ballet in Vienna is a question… I guess not. It seems that the general direction is saving lots of money, at the expense of the ballet, by reducing all costs related to external choreographical work. No words, except for asking how the direction thinks of reaching a good occupation of both houses on “ballet evenings” - unfortunately, the economy issues ARE important. Especially to us, the taxpayers…
